Proper Fit: Your belt should fasten comfortably in the middle hole and if it’s too tight, it will dig in. Too loose and it won’t do its job, leaving too much excess hanging.
Buckle Position: Once fastened, the end of the belt should not hang down excessively, it should tuck neatly into the first loop of your trousers.
Know When Not To: Crucially, never wear a belt with truly formal wear, like tuxedos or dinner suits and those require braces (suspenders) to keep the waistline smooth and clean.
Its Main Task: Beyond looking good, its purpose is to hold your trousers firmly and cleanly around your waist.
